And let's be honest - to be kind of fair to them - judging is somewhat subjective into what you think. But the bottom line is, you've got to go on damage. You've got to go on - there's a lot of different things to score on, and judges should know what it is."

I would like someone to explain to me how smoking marijuana gave Nick Diaz any type of advantage in his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC 143? The only thing I can think of is that it would have enabled him to stay more relaxed during the fight. There's a couple of problems with that reasoning, though. First, it may make you too relaxed and possibly induce lethargy. That would be the opposite of what you wanted. Also, when you're in front of that many screaming fans, I don't think a little marijuana is going to help you chill out. The second problem is that we don't know when Nick smoked this marijuana. He may have smoked it two weeks ago, but it was still in his system.

I have yet to hear a valid reason about marijuana giving someone a competitive advantage. This is about more than Nick Diaz, this encompasses all of athletic history. If someone can give me a good reason, e-mail it to me, I would like to know.

A question some may be asking is why do I care so much? I don't smoke the stuff, so why is this so important to me? The answer is simple, I believe in personal liberty. As long as you don't cause harm to other people, I don't care what you do as long as you're over the age of 18. It's the same way with seatbelts in vehicles. I don't think a person over the age of 18 should be required to wear a seatbelt. I definitely think everyone should wear one, but it shouldn't be a crime to not wear one. That's because you're not hurting anyone but yourself (Ok, technically, that's not true because if you die from not wearing a seatbelt you're hurting your family and friends emotionally, but you have to draw the line somewhere).

Nick Diaz smoked some marijuana sometime before his fight with Carlos Condit at UFC 143. I don't when he did it, but I'm convinced that it didn't provide him any advantage in his fight. This isn't a PED we're dealing with here.

With all that said, I want to hit upon one final thing, though: Nick Diaz needs to take full blame for this positive test. Whether you agree with it or not, Nick knew that a positive test would be severely damaging to him. To do something so stupid before a huge fight is just inexcusable. He has to know better. Diaz is young, but he wasn't born yesterday. This is also the second time he's tested positive for marijuana. Stuff like this makes you question his commitment to fighting.

At times Overeem has looked impressive, but dos Santos is a really good boxer. He's also aggressive. Overeem has looked very tentative at times, and I think JDS takes advantage of that.

First off, those comments make Ellenberger sound like a meathead. Diego pushes the pace and uses his cardio to wear down his opponents. I wouldn't call that a "stupid guy pace."

My prediction for this fight is that Diego wins by decision. I don't think Ellenberger can keep pace with Diego. He's not fighting a distraught Jake Shields who's still mourning the sudden loss of his father here, he's fighting a relentless pit bull. I'm not a big Diego Sanchez fan, all that Tony Robbins positive thinking crap is ridiculous, but I respect him a fighter. I think Diego will outwork him and earn a close decision victory.

I don't care what you're doing, when you win that many times in a row without losing, you're doing something right. No one is saying that you have to bow down to Thompson, but don't be so dismissive of an opponent. Brown's claims of being able to go 100-0 make him sound delusional. Brown is a decent fighter, but come on, let's be real.

Brown will look like an even bigger knob if he gets knocked out by Thompson, which is what I think will happen. When you talk big, you better be ready to back it up.

However, that was simply an opening salvo fired, and in January they once again received a court order to withhold Overeem's earnings from the event, according to MMAJunkie.com.

Per the report, Golden Glory - through their corporate parent company Knockout Investments - obtained an order requiring Zuffa to withhold $427,714.27 of Overeem's earnings from his UFC 141 victory over Brock Lesnar. They were required to post a surety bond in that amount, which they have done, and the order was executed on January 24 and served to Zuffa.

Overeem's total disclosed pay was $385,714.28 for the event, but he also received a pay-per-view cut as well as other guaranteed payments. Per the report, the $427K figure represents 30% of Overeem's purse, win bonus, pay-per-view proceeds, and "guaranteed payment for ancillary and intellectual property rights as set forth in the UFC Contracts and Zuffa's Promotional and Ancillary Rights Agreement of September 2011."

The money will be held in escrow until a judgment is made in the currently ongoing lawsuit filed by Golden Glory against Overeem. In the cage, Overeem is expected back on May 26 in a Heavyweight Championship bout against Junior dos Santos at UFC 146.

Penick's Analysis: Overeem thought he was out of the woods a little bit when Golden Glory failed to post a bond on the initial withholding, but now they've hit him even harder with this. Of course, if he prevails in court, the money will be his, but it's a significant chunk of change he does not have access to for the moment. This lawsuit isn't going away anytime soon for him, and it's going to be a big case for Overeem to deal with before being able to officially move on with his career.

Gina Carano books second starring role in action thriller "In the Blood"

Following a starring role in January's "Haywire," former Women's MMA star Gina Carano will be returning to action this year.

On film.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carano has secured her second starring role in a major motion picture. Staying in the action genre, Carano will star in the film "In the Blood," an action thriller in the vein of "Taken," directed by John Stockwell.

The film is described as being "set in motion when a husband disappears while vacationing in the Caribbean with his wife, to be played by Carano. The grieving wife passionately and recklessly pursues the men whom she believes kidnapped and killed him." Principal photography on the film is set to begin in late spring or early summer in Puerto Rico.

Carano received mostly favorable reviews for her performance in Haywire, leading to a belief that more acting gigs would be in her future. This booking for another film by an established actor/director (Stockwell has helmed films such as Into the Blue, Blue Crush, and Turistas) is another solid statement for Carano in beginning what could be a burgeoning film career.

"This role will showcase not only Gina's fighting skills, but also her acting abilities as her character struggles to reign in her violent past," said Stockwell.

Penick's Analysis: With filming set to begin in the next several months, it's another sign that we're unlikely to see Carano enter the cage again. With all the talk in 2011 of her return, it just never panned out because of her to-this-day mysterious removal from the June Strikeforce event. With another film under her belt, she isn't likely to be slowing down in her movie career. If she does well with "In the Blood," expect her to get more roles in film and to see more of her outside of the world of MMA.
